The Vostok 3KA space capsule was a single-seat orbital spacecraft designed and built by the Soviet space program's Experimental Design Bureau OKB-1. It measured 2.30 meters in diameter with a launch mass of 4,725 kilograms, and consisted of a spherical reentry module and a service module that separated before reentry. The capsule carried cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on the first human spaceflight, launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome on April 12, 1961.
