The group is led by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and its facilities such as the Tsukuba Space Center, alongside long established manufacturers including IHI Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and a wave of newer commercial ventures such as Astroscale, Axelspace, Ispace, ArkEdge Space and GITAI, the last of which began in Tokyo and continues its Japan origin robotics operations alongside a later United States office. Members span government spaceflight, satellite servicing and launch.
