The Gemini spacecraft was NASA second generation crewed spacecraft, carrying two astronauts and flown during Project Gemini between 1965 and 1966 to develop techniques needed for the later Apollo Moon landings. Ten crewed Gemini missions tested orbital rendezvous and docking with an uncrewed Agena target vehicle, extravehicular activity outside the spacecraft, and the longer duration spaceflights that a lunar mission would require. The program bridged the single seat Mercury spacecraft and the three seat Apollo Command and Service Module, and its astronaut corps supplied many of the crew members who later flew to the Moon.
