Crew Exploration Vehicle

Crewed Spacecraft

The Crew Exploration Vehicle, or CEV, was the name given to a spacecraft NASA set out to build as part of the agency's Vision for Space Exploration plan. NASA ran a competition among aerospace contractors to design a vehicle capable of carrying astronauts to the destinations the plan called for, and the winning design became the Orion spacecraft.
