Pale Blue is a Japanese propulsion company headquartered in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, founded in 2020 as a spin-off of the University of Tokyo, that develops spacecraft propulsion systems using water as propellant. The company Resistojet thruster uses jets of steam to maneuver satellites weighing less than 100 kilograms and made its in-orbit debut in 2023, and the company has also worked toward demonstrating a water based ion thruster and has partnered with Mitsubishi Electric to advance water propulsion technology.
