The John F. Kennedy Space Center, originally known as the NASA Launch Operations Center and known as KSC, is located on Merritt Island, Florida and is one of the ten field centers of NASA. Since 1968 it has been NASA primary launch center for American spaceflight, research and technology, and launch operations for the Apollo, Skylab, Space Shuttle and Artemis programs were carried out from its Launch Complex 39. It is adjacent to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and the two sites share resources and operate facilities on each other property. It was formed on July 1, 1962.
