NASA Field Centers

NASA field centers are the ten major installations through which the National Aeronautics and Space Administration executes its programs and activities, with all other NASA facilities falling under the authority of at least one of these ten centers. NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. sets overall policy and leadership for the agency, while each field center carries out an assigned share of the agency's research, spacecraft development, and flight operations work. This group holds the Northern America field centers tracked in this atlas's space agencies subcategory: the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Goddard Space Flight Center, the Marshall Space Flight Center, the Johnson Space Center, the Kennedy Space Center, the Langley Research Center, the Glenn Research Center, and the Armstrong Flight Research Center. It is distinct from the smaller subsidiary facilities NASA operates under each center's own authority, and from the private companies and non-profit organizations grouped elsewhere in the same subcategory.
