The programs that built and operated crewed orbital space stations, the Soviet Salyut program, the American Skylab, the Soviet and later Russian Mir, and China's Tiangong, together with the American Space Shuttle program whose reusable orbiters built, serviced and crewed the later stations. Belongs here: a program whose defining purpose was sustained crewed operations in Earth orbit rather than a lunar landing or an early one-off milestone.
