Space Shuttle Discovery (OV-103) is a retired American Space Shuttle orbiter, one of NASA's five fully operational orbiters. Over 27 years of service from 1984 to 2011 it launched and landed 39 times, more spaceflights than any other spacecraft, and was protected by nearly 25,000 heat-resistant tiles. Discovery performed research, International Space Station assembly missions, and carried the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit. It was built by Rockwell International.
