Peregrine Mission One

Peregrine Mission One was a robotic lunar lander built by the American company Astrobotic Technology, launched in January 2024 as the first mission of NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services program and the first attempt by an American company to land a spacecraft on the Moon. Shortly after launch the spacecraft suffered a propellant leak that made a lunar landing impossible, and Astrobotic instead used the lander remaining fuel to test its systems in space before deliberately guiding it to burn up in Earth atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean. Despite not reaching the Moon, the mission still returned useful engineering data and carried a number of scientific and commercial payloads for paying customers.
