Odysseus

Odysseus is a robotic lunar lander built by the American company Intuitive Machines, launched in February 2024 as part of NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services program. On February 22, 2024, it became the first commercially built spacecraft to achieve a soft landing on the Moon and the first American spacecraft to do so since the final Apollo mission in 1972, touching down near the Moon south pole. The lander came to rest tipped on its side after one of its landing legs caught on the surface during touchdown, but it continued to operate and transmit data and images for about a week before its solar powered batteries lost the sunlight needed to keep functioning.
