A NASA asteroid-study and sample-return mission built by Lockheed Martin, launched in September 2016 to visit and collect samples from the carbonaceous near-Earth asteroid 101955 Bennu. It collected a 121.6 gram sample from Bennu in October 2020 and returned it to Earth in September 2023, the first US spacecraft to return samples from an asteroid; the spacecraft itself was then renamed OSIRIS-APEX for a follow-up mission to asteroid 99942 Apophis.
