The Space Observatory (Observatoire de lEspace) is a cultural laboratory created in 2000 by CNES, the French space agency, to promote a vision of outer space distinct from that of popular science. It introduces artists to CNES activities and facilitates space-inspired artistic creation across literature, contemporary art, performing arts and music, sharing the resulting works with the public through exhibitions, festivals and publications, including the annual Sideration festival held each March at CNES headquarters in Paris. By connecting artists with space science and infrastructure, the observatory bridges cultural and scientific domains to generate new perspectives on humanity relationship with the cosmos.
