International Astronautical Federation

The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) is an international, non-governmental space advocacy organization founded in 1951 and headquartered in Paris, France, established to open a dialogue among scientists worldwide and lay the groundwork for international cooperation in space. It has grown to more than 390 members across 68 countries, drawing together space agencies, companies, universities, professional associations, museums, government bodies and academic societies. Its best-known activity is organizing the annual International Astronautical Congress, the federations largest event, which draws roughly 6,000 participants for technical presentations and networking on space science, exploration, technology and infrastructure.
