Yuri Romanenko

Yuri Romanenko was a Soviet cosmonaut who flew three missions to Soviet space stations, including a 1987 stay aboard Mir that set a new spaceflight duration record of just over 326 days at the time. His long-duration missions contributed significant early data on the effects of extended weightlessness on human physiology, research that shaped later understanding of the medical requirements for very long spaceflights.
