Boris Yegorov

Boris Yegorov was a Soviet physician who flew aboard the Voskhod 1 mission in October 1964, becoming the first medical doctor to travel into space. His presence on the three-person crew allowed direct physiological observation of his crewmates during the flight, an early step toward the aerospace medicine research that would become central to understanding how spaceflight affects the human body over longer missions.
