Peregrine Lunar Landing Mission

Robotic Lunar Exploration Missions

Peregrine Mission One, formally Peregrine Lunar Lander flight 01, was a failed American lunar lander mission. The Peregrine lander was built by Astrobotic Technology and carried payloads for the NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services program. It launched on January 8, 2024, on the maiden flight of the Vulcan Centaur rocket, with the goal of making the first landing of a US-built lander on the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. Shortly after separation a propellant leak prevented the lander from completing its mission, and after six days in orbit it was redirected into the atmosphere and burned up over the South Pacific on January 18, 2024.
