Mary Jackson

American mathematician and aerospace engineer who worked at NACA and NASA's Langley Research Center. After completing required engineering coursework, she was promoted to aerospace engineer in 1958, becoming NASA's first Black female engineer. She spent much of her career analyzing data from wind tunnel experiments and real-world aircraft flight tests in Langley's Subsonic-Transonic Aerodynamics Division, and later worked to help other women and minorities advance in engineering and science careers at NASA. Her career, alongside colleagues Dorothy Vaughan and Katherine Johnson, was told in the book and film Hidden Figures.
