Japan's principal millimeter-wave radio observatory, operated by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan near Mount Yatsugatake and home to a 45-meter millimeter-wave telescope that was, for decades after its 1982 completion, among the largest and most sensitive of its kind. It has also hosted a dedicated solar radio array for continuous monitoring of the Sun.
