A NASA space telescope launched in 1992 to survey the sky in extreme ultraviolet light, a band of the spectrum too easily absorbed by Earth's atmosphere to observe from the ground and previously almost unexplored. It catalogued hundreds of extreme-ultraviolet sources, mostly hot white dwarf stars and active stellar coronae, before its mission ended in 2001.
