A Japanese infrared space telescope launched in 2006 by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency to conduct an all-sky survey in infrared light with far greater sensitivity and resolution than the pioneering IRAS mission of the 1980s. Its resulting catalog of infrared sources has been widely used alongside data from WISE and other infrared surveys.
