InSight, short for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, was a NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory robotic lander mission designed to study the deep interior of Mars. Launched May 5, 2018, the lander operated on the Martian surface until NASA declared the mission ended on December 21, 2022, after losing contact on December 15, 2022.
