Chang'e 4 is a robotic spacecraft mission in the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program of the China National Space Administration, launched December 7, 2018. It made a soft landing on the far side of the Moon on January 3, 2019, the first spacecraft ever to do so, with its lander and the Yutu-2 rover both operating on the lunar surface well beyond their planned mission durations.
