Chang'e 1

Chang'e 1 was an uncrewed Chinese lunar orbiting spacecraft launched by the China National Space Administration on October 24, 2007, part of the first phase of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program and named after the Chinese Moon goddess Chang'e. The spacecraft entered lunar orbit on November 5, 2007, and remained in orbit conducting scientific observations until it was deliberately deorbited in a controlled impact on the lunar surface on March 1, 2009.
