Chandrayaan-3 is the third mission in the Indian Space Research Organisation's Chandrayaan programme, consisting of the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover as replacements for the Chandrayaan-2 equivalents that crashed in 2019. Launched July 14, 2023 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, it entered lunar orbit on August 5 and touched down near the lunar south pole on August 23, 2023, making India the fourth national space agency to land on the Moon and the first in history to achieve a soft landing near the lunar south pole.
