A four-stage American launch vehicle developed by Wernher von Braun's Army Ballistic Missile Agency team from the Jupiter-C sounding rocket. It launched Explorer 1 on 31 January 1958, the first successful American satellite, discovering the Van Allen radiation belts in the process.

The Juno rocket could trace its ancestry back to the German V-2 rocket, which Von Braun had also designed.
