Mariam Fardous is a Saudi astronaut selected as a backup astronaut for Axiom Mission 2 by the Saudi Space Commission, with her selection officially announced on February 12, 2023. She is a Saudi epidemiologist and scuba diver who became the first Saudi woman and first Arab woman to dive in the north polar Arctic Ocean in 2015, and the first Arab woman to dive at the North Pole in 2016.
