Dark Nebulae

Dense interstellar clouds of dust and gas that block the light of the stars and nebulae behind them, so they show up as dark patches against the glowing background. An object belongs here when its cited article calls it a dark nebula. Many are the cold cores in which stars later form. Members are placed here from their own cited Wikipedia articles, each with a verbatim supporting quotation, so a reader can check why an entry sits in this group. The grouping forms part of the browse path for this section of the atlas.
