The Boeing X-20 Dyna-Soar was a United States Air Force program that set out to build a spaceplane capable of a wide range of military missions, including aerial reconnaissance, bombing, space rescue, satellite maintenance, and acting as a space interceptor against enemy satellites. The program ran from October 1957 to December 1963 at a cost of about 660 million dollars. It was cancelled shortly after construction of the spacecraft itself had begun, so no Dyna-Soar vehicle ever flew.
