16 Psyche, generally known simply as Psyche, is a large M-type asteroid in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, discovered by the Italian astronomer Annibale de Gasparis on 17 March 1852. It is the largest and most massive of the M-type asteroids, with a mean diameter of approximately 222 kilometres.
