Nix, formally designated Pluto II, is a moon of Pluto with a diameter of about 49.8 kilometers across its longest dimension. It was discovered together with Pluto's outermost moon, Hydra, on 15 May 2005 by astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope, and it was named for Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night; by distance it is the third of Pluto's moons, orbiting between Styx and Kerberos.
