Messier 70, also known as M70 or NGC 6681, is a globular cluster of stars in the constellation Sagittarius, discovered by Charles Messier in 1780. It lies roughly 29,300 light-years from Earth and gained additional notice after Comet Hale-Bopp was discovered close to it in the sky in 1995.
