Messier 25, also known as M25 or IC 4725, is an open cluster of stars in the constellation Sagittarius. It was first recorded by the Swiss astronomer Philippe Loys de Cheseaux in 1745 and was included in Charles Messier's catalogue of nebulous objects in 1764; a dark, obscuring lane of dust passes near its center.
