Caldwell 8, also known as NGC 559, is an open cluster of stars in the constellation Cassiopeia, discovered by William Herschel in 1787. It lies roughly 3,700 light-years from Earth and holds on the order of 100 member stars, appearing as a faint, compact grouping best resolved through a telescope rather than binoculars.
