Kimiya Yui

Kimiya Yui is a Japanese astronaut with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and a retired Japan Air Self-Defense Force fighter pilot who flew F-15 Eagles and served as a test pilot before his selection by JAXA in 2009, when he simultaneously joined NASA Astronaut Group 20. He flew two missions, Soyuz TMA-17M in July 2015 for Expeditions 44 and 45, spending 142 days in space, and SpaceX Crew-11, which launched August 1, 2025, for Expeditions 73 and 74. He became Chief of the JAXA Astronaut Corps in November 2016 and has logged more than 308 days in space across his two missions.
