Ken Money

Ken Money is a Canadian scientist specializing in the physiology of the human ear who was selected by the National Research Council of Canada as one of six original Canadian astronauts in December 1983, but left the Canadian Astronaut Corps in 1992 without ever flying to space. Before his selection he placed fifth in the high jump at the 1956 Summer Olympics with a personal best of 2.03 meters, and during his astronaut career he served as Spacelab payload operations controller for a 1992 shuttle mission and as an alternate astronaut. He published more than 100 scientific articles, invented an experimental surgical procedure called semicircular canal plugging used to treat certain types of dizziness, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross by the Governor General of Canada in 1994.
