David Saint-Jacques is a Canadian astronaut, astrophysicist, engineer and physician who was selected by the Canadian Space Agency in May 2009 as one of two new astronauts and simultaneously joined NASA Astronaut Group 20. He flew his only spaceflight aboard Soyuz MS-11, launched December 3, 2018, serving as flight engineer across Expeditions 57, 58 and 59 of the International Space Station and returning to Earth on June 24, 2019, after 203 days, 15 hours and 16 minutes in space. During the mission he conducted a spacewalk of about seven hours on April 8, 2019, becoming the fourth Canadian astronaut to perform a spacewalk and the first to do so in twelve years, and he was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2022.
