Wallops Flight Facility

Wallops Flight Facility is a NASA rocket launch site on Wallops Island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, managed by the Goddard Space Flight Center. Established in 1945, the installation spans three land parcels totaling about 6,200 acres and supports science and exploration missions for NASA and other federal agencies. It launches sounding rockets and small orbital and suborbital rockets, flies high altitude scientific balloons, and conducts aeronautical research with uncrewed aircraft, and has carried out more than 16,000 launches over its history.
