United States Space Command, known as USSPACECOM, is a unified combatant command of the United States Department of Defense responsible for military operations in outer space, defined as operations at 100 kilometers above mean sea level and higher. It was first established on 23 September 1985, disestablished in 2002 when its functions were absorbed into United States Strategic Command, and reestablished on 29 August 2019 with a renewed focus on space as a warfighting domain. The command draws forces primarily from the United States Space Force, with smaller contributions from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force, and it is headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado, with a relocation to Redstone Arsenal in Alabama announced in September 2025 for completion by 2032.
