Turkish Aerospace Industries, also known by its Turkish initials TUSAS, is a state owned aerospace and defence company headquartered in Kahramankazan near Ankara, founded on June 28, 1973 to reduce Turkey dependence on foreign defence capabilities. Beyond aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles, the company develops reconnaissance and Earth observation satellites including the Gokturk series, manages communications satellite programs such as Turksat 6A, and operates the Turkish Satellite Assembly, Integration and Test Center as the country technology center for aviation and space system development.
