The Spaceship Company is an American spacecraft manufacturer headquartered at the Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, founded in 2005 by Burt Rutan and Richard Branson to own the spaceflight technology Scaled Composites had created for Virgin Galactic. It was jointly owned by Virgin Group and Scaled Composites until Virgin Galactic became its sole owner in October 2012. The company builds and tests the WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo class reusable spaceplanes used in Virgin Galactic's suborbital spaceflight program.
