SpaceSail, formally Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology, is a Chinese satellite company backed by the Shanghai municipal government building the Qianfan low Earth orbit broadband constellation, positioned as China main challenger to SpaceX Starlink network. The company parent aims to have the Qianfan network, planned to eventually comprise around 15,000 satellites, fully operational by 2030, as part of a broader wave of Chinese state and provincial government support for large satellite internet constellations.
