Space Applications Centre

Space Applications Centre, known as SAC, is a research centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation established on 25 October 1972 and headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with a further campus in Delhi. Founded by Vikram Sarabhai, SAC researches, develops and demonstrates applications of space technology across telecommunications, remote sensing, meteorology and satellite navigation, building both the hardware and software for onboard systems, ground infrastructure and end user equipment. The centre has developed communication and meteorological payloads for India INSAT satellites and optical and microwave payloads for the IRS remote sensing satellites.
