Pixxel is a space technology company founded in India by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal in 2019 while they were students at BITS Pilani, building a constellation of hyperspectral imaging satellites in sun-synchronous orbit. Its hyperspectral satellites are designed to detect and monitor features that conventional imaging satellites cannot, by capturing wavelengths of light across a broad, continuous range of the electromagnetic spectrum. The company is also developing Aurora, an Earth observation platform meant to simplify visualization and analysis of remote sensing data, and has launched demonstration hyperspectral satellites ahead of plans to deploy a larger commercial constellation called Fireflies.
