OneWeb

OneWeb, now operating as Eutelsat OneWeb, is a satellite operator that provides broadband internet service from a low Earth orbit constellation flying at about 1,200 kilometers altitude. The company was founded in 2012 as WorldVu and was later renamed OneWeb, building and operating its constellation from headquarters in London before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2020; it emerged from bankruptcy in November 2020 under new ownership including Bharti Global and the government of the United Kingdom. OneWeb completed its first-generation constellation of 652 operational satellites by October 2024, serving businesses, governments and telecommunications operators rather than individual consumers. In September 2023 OneWeb merged with the French satellite operator Eutelsat S.A. to form what the companies describe as the first combined geostationary and low Earth orbit satellite operator.
