The Norwegian Space Agency, known as NOSA and formerly the Norwegian Space Centre, is a Norwegian government agency that oversees the public space activities of Norway, with the goal of ensuring the country benefits from any space activity in which it engages. The agency was established as the Norwegian Space Centre in 1987 alongside the decision of Norway to join the European Space Agency, functions under the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry, conducts space activities intended to be of use to society and contribute to business development, and safeguards and promotes Norwegian interests in relation to the European Space Agency, European Union space programmes and bilateral agreements with other countries; its headquarters is in Oslo.
