North American Aviation

North American Aviation was a major American aerospace manufacturer founded in 1928 and headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Alongside well known military aircraft such as the P-51 Mustang and the B-25 Mitchell, the company built the Apollo command and service module, the S-II second stage of the Saturn V launch vehicle, and the Space Shuttle orbiter for NASA's crewed spaceflight programs. North American Aviation merged with Rockwell-Standard in September 1967 to form North American Rockwell, later Rockwell International.
