MaiaSpace

MaiaSpace is a French aerospace company set up by ArianeGroup in 2022 to develop a partially reusable orbital launch vehicle called Maia. The two stage rocket carries a first stage with three Prometheus engines and a re-ignitable second stage with a single Prometheus engine, burning a bio-methane and liquid oxygen mix developed by ArianeGroup for the European Space Agency. Maia is designed with two variants, a reusable version capable of placing up to 500 kilograms into sun synchronous orbit with first stage vertical landing on an offshore barge, and an expendable version capable of delivering up to 1.5 tonnes to the same orbit; the inaugural flight has slipped from a previously expected late 2026 date to 2027.
