Lunar Mission One was an international crowdfunded robotic Moon project led by England-based Lunar Missions Limited, aiming to send a lander to drill beneath the lunar south pole and retrieve ancient rock samples by 2024. The project also planned to bury a time capsule of public archives and purchasable digital memory boxes at the drill site, and it raised 672,447 pounds through a 2014 Kickstarter campaign. The venture closed due to tax complications before it built or launched any spacecraft.
