Kongsberg Satellite Services

Kongsberg Satellite Services, known as KSAT, is a Norwegian ground station and Earth observation services company established on December 21, 2001, headquartered in Tromso, with roots reaching back to a ground station opened there in 1967. The company is owned equally by the state enterprise Space Norway and by Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, and it operates more than 280 antennas across roughly two dozen sites worldwide, including polar ground stations at Tromso, the Svalbard Satellite Station at 78 degrees north, and the Troll Satellite Station in Antarctica at 72 degrees south. Because its polar stations can see a low altitude polar orbiting satellite on every orbit as the Earth rotates beneath it, KSAT describes itself as running the most extensive ground station network in the world, supporting telemetry, tracking, high rate data downlink and maritime monitoring services for government and commercial satellite operators.
